I know there are lots of choices for software but have heard that most can not copy the TV show DVDs
any thoughts on the Best DVD writer machine.
Want to play the DVDs on the computer DVD player and record on an external. Again, key is software must work for both movie and TV Series DVDs

Well both movie and tv series dvd’s have the same type but different encryption. All you need is to check this good site out.

DVD Shrink – Copying and for reduce the size of the movie (can reduce the files copied by DVD Fab on HDD)
NERO – DVD Writing
DVD Shrink is a great program i’ve been using for a couple of years – and its Free !! DVD’s will copy straight over (takes a couple of hours) and these have copyright protection. Shows like the Saprnos can also be recored.
As far as recording TV shows is concerned, the software supplied with your TV card should give the ability to record it. Most will only play through your TV card’s software but if you rename the program with an .avi extention it should plat through media Player
